JV Boys Game Reports

Manson 27 ~ Liberty Bell 27

1.12.10

Coach Ward reports….

We started the week by playing against Liberty Bell on Tuesday, January 12. This was 2-quarter game that ended in a halftime draw due to the fact that Liberty Bell didn't have enough players to compete in a full game and still ensure that they would have enough boys to play on varsity.  Although the abbreviated game was preplanned, I went into the game forgetting the fact that we were only going to play two quarters and made some critical coaching errors by not playing for the win at the end of the second quarter.  We had the ball and a 1 point lead with about 30 seconds left in the half and I was questioning one of my players as to why they were trying to purposely foul us right before halftime. They did foul us; we missed the front end of a 1 and 1, and then picked up a very uncommon and unnecessary technical foul for unsportsmanlike conduct on one of our players.  Liberty Bell made one of their free throws and that was the way it ended. It wasn't until we were headed off the floor to halftime that I then remembered that we were only scheduled for 2 quarters.

Manson 33 ~ Oroville 46

1.15.10

Coach Ward reports…

We then traveled up to Oroville on Friday night and played against a physical Oroville group.  In the first three quarters our turnovers outnumbered our point total and we were playing catch-up for the whole game.  We have had turnover issues for most of the year but have been able to overcome them until this point.  Oroville had very good player, Mathews, who scored 27 of their 46 points and made us pay for our turnovers. It took us too long to identify how good of a player he was and once we did we still couldn't stop him. Our highlight of the game was the offensive production from Colton Hodges who had 18 points.  It was nice to see Colton play some aggressive basketball and put up some good numbers for us.  Besides that we were outhustled, outrebounded, and all around outplayed by Oroville. Our next game is scheduled for Tuesday, January 19 at 7:30 pm, against Chelan's C squad.

Scoring: C. Hodges 18, A. Grajeda 5, A. Fajardo 4, M. Valencia 2, O. Ocampo 2, N. Coggins 2.

Manson  7   19   23   33
