Hailey Ellsworth battles for the ball

Coach Hill reports:

The Lady Trojans played their season opener game against Thorp High School on Friday, December, 11th.  The Lady Trojans got off to a very slow start really struggling to make their easy" shots, but as the game went along things got a lot better and the defensive’s pressure really helped them pull away.

Thorp was a lot bigger than the Lady Trojans were at 4 of the 5 spots on the floor and our girls really out hustled them to many offensive rebounds. We learned a lot from this game though; we now realize that we really need to work on free-throws (2-13,) passing and help defense. The girls came away from the game with the one thing that we had hoped to gain and that was confidence.

Hailey Ellsworth had a good game with 12 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals while running the point for most of the game. Cheyanne McFadden came up with 2 points, 4 rebounds and 4 steals. Veronica Vanderholm had a big night with 9 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists and 6 steals. Yessenia Escoto came off the bench to score 10 points, grabbed 4 rebounds, and had 2 assists and 4 steals. Sierra Miller played great defense and had 4 points and 2 assists. Angelica Suarez had 4 rebounds and 3 points. Thalia Lepley had 6 hard earned rebounds. Ofelia Rodriguez had 2 points and five rebounds. Freshmen Jackie Guillen had 5 rebounds and 2 steals.
