The Chelan Goats, after a rough baseball season defeated Omak Pioneers 11 - 2 in the first round of the District Play-Offs.

Chelan Goats after a rough baseball season, defeated Omak Pioneers 11-2 in the first round of the District Play-Offs.  They will now get an opportunity to take on Brewster in a semi-final game on Saturday, April 15th, as they continue their quest toward the State Tournament.  

The Chelan Goats, who have had a difficult season of baseball, found themselves coming through the back door to get into the District Play-off.  They started slowly behind the pitching of Josh Burbery and offense was pretty quiet through the 1st inning.  Then Sirus DeMarias got on base in the Chelan half of the second inning with a double to right-center field.  He was moved to third and finally scored their first run.  Then after another Goat reached 1st and stole 2nd it brought up Evan Reister who took a second pitch fastball and drove the ball over the left field fence for a two run homer and the Goats never looked back.  The Goats also got some outstanding defense coming up with two huge throughs from left fielder Adam Hendricks which ended in a throw out at the plate and one at third base.  Also contributing offensively were Sirus DeMarias with 3 doubles, Adam Hendricks hit 3 singles driving the ball through the middle of the infield.  Finally they had some outstanding base running.  Talking with Coach Burbery after the game and he was very excited about the way the boys have been hitting the ball and fills that if they can continue this aggressive hitting and can get some strong innings from each of their pitchers, they will have a shot to go along ways in these play-offs.
