This was a well played basketball game by both teams.  Waterville started the game very strong holding us to only 6 points in the first quarter.  In the second quarter our defense got us back into the game with some steals which led to easy baskets and we took a 23-17 point halftime lead.  In the third quarter it was our defense again that held Waterville to only 8 points and we were able to build a little larger of a lead. 
 
Overall I was proud of the way our kids played on the defensive side of the ball and the way they rebounded.  Miguel Lopez was the high scorer of the game with 18 points in 3 quarters of play followed by Jacob Cleveland with 12.  David Sadano and Colton Hodges did great jobs defensively applying pressure to the Waterville guards.  Nathan Coggins, Ammon Simmons, and Danny Luna protected the paint very well not allowing many easy baskets and grabbing all the boards for us.  Javier Guillen and Fernando Vasquez were limited to two quarters each but also gave 100% for us on both ends of the floor.  On the downside we were again only 5 for 13 from the free throw line and must improve if we plan on winning the close games over the next month. 

We travel to Liberty Bell on Tuesday, Jan. 13^th and play Oroville at home on Friday, Jan. 16^th. Game time is 4:30 p.m. in the Secondary old gym.
