Goats roll over weak Brewster Bears wrestling team

“The guys came out and put their all into this match,” said Coach Jay McGuffin. The team rolled over a small Brewster Bear wrestling team with a score of 78-12. Most of their points came from forfeits.
Scoring pins on the evening were Jose Lopez at 119 pounds; Gage Henry at 135 pounds; Jose Garcia at 145 pounds; Tyler Allen at 152 pounds; Tyler Clark at 160 pounds; and Arnie Lopez at 189 pounds.
JJ Brose (285 lbs.) found himself in trouble early in his match against Brewster’s Austin Sattler and was pinned in the first round giving Brewster their only win of the evening.
Dillon Parker (125 lbs.) had not had a home match all season, but was able to show his skill in an exhibition match against a Brewster wrestler, Marcelino Martinez, taking that match to 7-3 before winning by pin in the first round of his match.
Jose Aparicio also wrestled an exhibition, losing a close decision 7-8.
Coach McGuffin is giving as many of his younger wrestlers mat time as he can. Gage Henry, as a freshman, and the other young wrestlers represent the future of the Goat wrestling team.
Chelan is currently ranked third in State 1A wrestling with Orting being the number one ranked team.
Chelan has five seniors on its team: Gage Schmidt (no losses this year); Jose Garcia (another wrestler with state experience); Tyler Allen; Tyler Clark; and Rudy Barrios. The younger wrestlers will be taking over next year.
Chelan has one more home match before Chelan hosts the District VI tournament.
