At 7 AM Saturday morning, the Lake Chelan Valley was filled with clouds, the relative humidity was about 90%, and Apple Blossom participants like ourselves were wondering if it wouldn't be a nasty wet day.
AND THEN - Queen Alejandra Mendivil said she had a quiet visit with the 'Man in Charge" and prayed for a break in the weather ... and then bingo .. "things began to change" and by the new 11 AM start of the Grand Parade, the skies had cleared, the temperatures were on the rise, the crowd had gathered, and the valley was off on a Great Day in Manson!
By the time the Apple Idol competition was held 'post parade' at around 1:00 pm, it was one of those famous Lake Chelan May days... warm air (warm enough to pull off all the rain gear and winter jackets folks wore as they headed to Manson earlier in the morning).
To the left - the outcome of the Apple Idol competition, and annual Apple Blossom event organized by Manson's Hal Killian. GoLakeChelan will continue to post the outcome of parade day competition in a variety of categories and post that information here in the near future.
GoLakeChelan teamed up with Wes Bowen and the Lake Chelan Mirror to provide coverage of the festival. The heavy rain just prior to the parade put a damper on some of our efforts and our streaming video - and some of those elements of our coverage didn't happen as planned.
And and look for much much more as we post a huge library of still photos from Richard Uhlhorn, Nancy Miller, and Terry Urness who were out and about and covered many aspects of Saturday's activities. [Anyone with Festival Photos who wants to share Email Us at :
