CHELAN DISTRICT CHAMPIONS
First time since 1968 by Richard Uhlhorn
For the first time since 1968, the Chelan Wrestling Team is one step closer to their ultimate goal. On Friday and Saturday, February 1 and 2, the team won the Caribou Trail League District Championship. We brought a big crowd to cheer on the nine finalists, reported Coach Jay McGuffin.
We had a real good week of practice
the intensity was high and the kids worked their butts off, said McGuffin. As a result we were able to bring home a trophy.
I really want to thank all the people that showed up to cheer us on. The team, my coaching staff and I really appreciate it.
Chelan heads to Cashmere for the Regional Tournament this coming Friday night and Saturday, February 8 and 9. We will have a good week of practice, work hard, and fix a couple of little things before the this coming weekend, said McGuffin.
