“I don’t mind losing a game here or there as long as the girls learn something from it,” said Coach Dane Lewman of Chelan’s loss to Brewster last week. The Lady Goats came out against the Lady Tigers on Saturday, January 19, and got back on the winning side with a 20 point victory, 60-40 over Tonasket.
“This was the best passing game I’ve seen all year from the team,” said Lewman. “They came out and played hard all game long.”
Chelan had 15 steals and 11 assists to give them an edge over the Tigers. They also had four girls in double figures on the night with Kelli Bowers leading the way with 14 points followed by Darby Jenkins and Kim Harter with 12 each and Alisha Love with 11 points. Kristen Milliette pulled down nine rebounds to lead the team on that level.
Chelan is currently ranked fifth in the 1A rankings. “I hate it when we get ranked like that,” said Lewman. “It really doesn’t mean anything.”
Chelan travels to Yakima to play DavisHigh School on Martin Luther King day, Monday, January 21, at the Tourney Town Shootout in the Yakima Sundome.
