Coach Donene Hendricks was pleased, very pleased with the Lady Goats on Tuesday, September 18, as they won a tough CTL League match against a skilled Cascade Kodiak team. “What a great night of volleyball for the Lady Goats,” reported Hendricks. “We had a three way sweep with all of our squads posting wins.”
Cascade won its first game against the varsity team 29-27, but Chelan answered that win by posting wins in the next three games to take the match, 25-21, 25-15, 25-22. “This puts us a 4-0 in league,” stated Hendricks.
Hendricks reported that the teams serving and defensive play was key in maintaining the momentum to win this match. “We also had a balanced attack from all hitters,” she reported. “In fact, we had six hitters with 6 or more kills each.”
She was also pleased that the team adjusted to the missing setter Kelli Bowers who sat out with a shoulder injury.
The Goats are battling it out at the annual South Whidbey Volleyball Tournament this weekend. It is a tournament which gives the team a chance to play teams from the west side that they might see at the State Tournament.
This coming Tuesday, September 25, the team will host Cashmere at Chelan High School beginning at 7 p.m.
