Cino De Mayo & Chamber Meeting Plus MORE!

Sunday afternoon I was walking in downtown Chelan and some music coming from Riverpark reminded me I had forgotten about Cino De Mayo celebration that was going to happen that day. Below are some photos from that event.

Some of crowd and the booths are shown above.

One of several bands that played.

These four speakers put out quite a sound. One of my neighbors told me she thought her washing machine was make a noise but then she recognized it was part of the music from the park.

Monday was the monthly Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce lunch. I knew the Manson Apple Blossom royalty would be there but I found them before the lunch walking down the side walk in downtown Chelan visiting with folks and dropping into the downtown businesses.

Below are two photos from the meeting at Campbell's Resort.

In the photo are left to right: Princess Stephenie Valencia, Queen Irma Falras and Princess Ally Peters plus their chaperone

They are in the middle of a song in this photo.

Photo of some of the people attending the lunch.

One of the things that happens at the Chamber Lunch meetings is to introduce new people who have recently joined the Chamber. They get a chance to say a few words about themselves and their business. Above is Nicholas Pascoe, "The Little Guy" call him if you need some repairs around your place. To the right of him is Dan Hodge, executive director of the Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce. My photo of Teresa Farrell who has opened a photography business did not turnout. Call the Chamber at 682-3503 if you need their phone numbers. Also the visit the Chamber website CLICK HERE

Another new business is The Spa at Lake Chelan. The owners are Rick and Rene Fesler pictured above.

The lady above is from the Wenatchee Valley Humane Society and is telling the Chamber folks about the Garden Festival to be held Saturday May 20 at Chateau Faire LePoint Winery at Olds Station. You will see the poster she is holding in local store windows. CLICK HERE for the Society website.

City of Chelan Mayor Jay Witherbee updated Chamber members on the "State of the City" and answered some questions. Here are some of the things covered:
He talked about the personal changes in City Hall. The Don Morse Park plan meeting that was canceled in April has not been set for a new date yet. There were some changes that needed to be made in what the consultant had come up with. The City website is being worked on. Daybreak is still working on their plans for the development on the Butte. A person is being hired soon that will work on code enforcement. Several calls recently to City Hall were complaints about all the dust being created by projects in the City and these are being dealt with. A retreat by City Council and some city staff will be held in late July or early August. They have been held in the past and help with development of the budget for the next year. The City is in good financial shape was a matter touched on. Impact fees to be paid by developers are being worked on.
The below photos are rather random things that have nothing to do with the above two events.

The above is not very good photo of the bumper boat location in Don Morse Park. The City Council voted last week not to run them this summer and I expect the materials will be removed when they come up with something to use this space in the park. The boats have been losing money for the last several years and about $5,500.00 would need to be spent to get them in shape to run this summer.

I was at the Drive Inn (CLICK HERE for website) just a bit after closing the other evening. The two ducks below were sitting under one of the walk up windows like they were waiting for their order. Wonder if they often show up about that time like the ones last year who waddled past my house to get to the droppings from a bird feeder next door most every afternoon.

The district 7 fire truck L-71 was sitting out in the sun Monday afternoon so I took a photo.

The new dental office for Charles Gavin is coming along to replace the one that burned.

Thought I should get a photo of the Kitchen Station sign before it disappears. The store has closed and combined with the(Click Here) Culinary Apple at 109 E. Woodin Ave in downtown Chelan.

Spotted this sort of vanity plate in downtown Chelan on Monday. There was nothing unusual about the back of the car.
