Chelan's Lady Goats had a rough offensive game against the Chewelah Cougars despite holding them to only 42 points. "This is a team that's scored up to 70 points against other teams," said Coach Jeff Eller. "They are a pretty scrappy team. I'm scared to look at our offensive numbers," he added. Chelan lost this game 42-35.
Offensively Chelan did not shoot well, which says a lot for Chewelah's physical game. They were all over Chelan and no one could get a good shot off. Chelan, which played with Chewelah until the fourth quarter, looked lethargic at times.
In the first quarter of play, Chewelah came out on top by only one point, 8-7. The Cougars also forced a number of turnovers during that period. By the end of the first half, the score was tied 15-all. Both teams battled it out in the third quarter with Chewelah outscoring the Goats by only one bucket. With the score at 26-24, the teams headed into the fourth quarter.
Chewelah went on a six point run to take the lead 32-26 before Chelan began to come back, unfortunately, a little late in the game.
Scoring stats:
Chelan - Kaiti Harris-2; Rachel Waszkewitz-2; Mandy Watson-3; Izzy Barth-6; Erika Hanson-4; Cassy Pilkinton-11; Maddie Miller-7
Chewelah - Jochelle Schatz-2; Nikki Nelson-6; Jenny Polm-13; Brook Schanzenbach-7; Sarah Scates-4; Amanda Whitley-10
Brewster game:
