Thursday, December 9 - The Chelan Goats came out running and pressing against the Liberty Bell Mountain Lions and roared to a 69-33 victory in non-league action last night. Their full court press completely disrupted Liberty Bell's hopes for getting an offense going.
The Goats also worked the ball on the inside offensively with Eric Nelson driving from the top of the key for several lay-ups. Nelson led the team with 14 points followed by inside man, freshman Bill Buckingham who ended the night with 13 points. Rick Rush played one heck of a game also, scoring 10 and rebounding both defensively and offensively.
By the end of the first quarter of play, the Goats had only allowed the Mountain Lions three points, scoring 26 of their own. In the second quarter, they extended their lead to 40-10. Liberty Bell finally got some offense going in the third quarter, but couldn't make up their deficit. Chelan outscored them 17-12 in the third. By the end of the game, the Goats walked off with a resounding victory over the Mountain Lions.
Others getting on the scoreboard were Erik Romero with 7, Jeff Johnson with 6, and both Marty Sheehan and Jake Bankson dumping in two points each. On Liberty Bell's side, Brandon Friggione had 16 of the Mountain Lions 33 points.
